Structural reforms have allowed Japan to finally break out of the long-lasting economic stagnation that commenced following the bursting of the bubble, and the manufacturing industry also has entered a new phase of business. With an eye to continuous growth, an increasing number of manufacturers have been robustly expanding their businesses in developing countries, where an investment infrastructure is being established, or/and setting up significant locations for manufacturing and selling their products primarily in the West. Moreover, varying types of businesses and strategies of individual companies generate differences in approaches to globally expanding their businesses, while the scope of such activities has been expanding to the extent that it now includes R&D and regional management, in addition to establishing locations for sales, manufacturing, and logistics of their products.
As a result of manufacturers’ strategies for globally expanding their businesses, a range of issues arise relating to differences in culture, economy, legal matters, and tax systems. DTTL Japan will provide these companies with comprehensive support based on a mix of our three attributes: expertise in each industry, the variety of our services including audit, consulting, and tax work, and our extensive overseas network developed over many years.
In addition, we are ready to support our clients in the implementation, feedback, development, and redesign phase of their strategies for expanding their businesses on a global basis.
DTTL Japan has set up industry groups equipped with a high level of expertise in countries including Japan. Our global manufacturing industry group has approximately 13,000 people in more than 45 member firms. By leveraging our extensive knowledge and high level of expertise, we will address wide-ranging global issues in order to meet the increasingly complex needs of Japanese companies.
With respect to issues potentially arising as a result of activities in the manufacturing industry, such as corporate restructuring on a global basis, our project teams set up by experts in fields covering audit, Enterprise Risk Services (“ERS”), consulting, and tax practices will propose comprehensive solutions to such challenges.
Since its establishment in 1968, DTTL Japan has been continuously making investments in services that support Japanese companies aiming to globally expand their businesses. This has led to our enhanced overseas network whereby a group of experts from Japanese businesses called the Japanese Services Group (“JSG”), which embraces over 560 bilinguals, including expatriates from DTTL Japan, have been supporting Japanese companies that operate globally.
