In their third year of sales in Japan, EVs are perceived as real products
• The level of awareness of EVs increased 4-fold in one year (from 21% in 2011 to 88% in 2012). However, the inclination to purchase an EV remains flat
• Awareness of next generation vehicles other than for EVs and hybrid electric vehicles (HEVs) is low
• There is an overwhelming inclination to purchase an HEV as a next generation vehicle
Tokyo, September 5, 2012 – Deloitte Tohmatsu Consulting Co., Ltd. (headquarters: Chiyoda Ward, Tokyo; managing partner: Akira Kondo) conducted a survey of the attitudes of Japanese consumers concerning next generation vehicles including EVs and identified several trends from the results.
